INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL MEDICINE

If you are planning an international trip in the near future, you will need to take specific steps to achieve optimal levels of protection against vaccine-preventable diseases.   You should contact a health-care provider who can provide pre-travel health advice at least 4 to 6 weeks before your departure.  The area to which you are traveling and the type of traveler that you are will determine what immunizations you will need.  Adventurous travelers that venture out to remote areas of developing countries will require a more thorough evaluation of needed immunizations and treatments for preventable diseases.
Recommendations for immunization are developed by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), and are published on the internet at www.cdc.gov/travel/ or www.cdc.gov/mmwr/.

Our Physicians here at CityDoc Uptown Urgent Care can help you determine the specific immunizations and prophylactic treatments that you will need for your trip.  The following immunizations are available at our Medical Clinic located in the Uptown/Downtown/Turtle Creek /Oaklawn area of Dallas:

  1. Diphtheria/Tetanus
  2. Measles
  3. Pertussis
  4. Poliomyelitis
  5. Hepatitis A
  6. Hepatitis B
  7. Varicella
  8. Japanese B Encephalitis
  9. Meningococcal Meningitis
  10. Rabies
  11. Typhoid

CityDocs also provides information on specific preventive behaviors or medications that may be helpful in the treatment against diseases such as Malaria and Cholera for which no vaccines are available.

Happy Travels!
